Easterbrook Hall Corporate Promotional film

Introduction

Branching out to producing corporate promotional films was something I had been yearning to do for some time here at Stage Two Imaging. Moving image media is a very powerful marketing tool when it comes to promoting your business so naturally I looked at how this could be a service worthwhile offering to potential clients.

A New Project

At the end of 2014 I received notification that the Crichton Development Company in Dumfries were keen to have a brand new promotional film produced for Easterbrook Hall. The film would display what the flagship venue has to offer, from social and music events to weddings, conferences and meetings.

I met with Chief Executive Officer Robert Shaw to discuss what this could potentially look like and what Stage Two Imaging could offer. I was extremely excited at the proposition of producing a promotional film for a corporate client for the first time, and for the client in question to be Easterbrook Hall and the Crichton Development Company no less, was an honour.

Planning & Logistics

After a brief tour of Easterbrook Hall and the adjacent Crichton Church with Robert, the creative gears began to work and very soon had a clear picture in mind of how the final product could look.

In the New Year I met with General Manager Senga Greenwood and Sales Manager Elaine Carruthers who were equally enthusiastic at the prospect of a fresh ‘flyover’ type promotional film being produced. It was great to hear we all had similar ideas on specific shots to be included. I drew up a rough storyboard and was granted access to a range of events that show variety, which is something this multi-purpose venue is very proud of.

A Helping Hand

The nature of such a large project would be difficult to undertake working by myself, so I enlisted the help of some fellow photographers and videographers who would assist on set to operate second or third cameras, help transport equipment or generally have an extra eye for minor details which can make a big difference. I have to thank Cameron Pagan of Hemera Visuals and Andrew Hughes of Capture Photography for coming along to assist, often at very short notice! I also enlisted the help of aerial photography specialist Andy Jardine from Digital Services to capture some stunning overhead footage of the area within the Crichton which has Easterbrook Hall, Crichton Church and Holiday Inn Hotel as three adjacent buildings. This was something the client was especially keen to include which establishes the relationship between each building.

The project was estimated to take around 3 to 4 months to complete, having managed to film segments of the many events initially requested. As the project progressed however, larger and more exciting events were nearing on the calendar, I was only too happy to oblige and ensure the client got exactly the end product they were looking for. Ensuring the client is 100% satisfied is our number one priority at Stage Two Imaging, we are never too shy to go the extra mile and go beyond all expectations.

First Cut

With that in mind, it was time to present to the client the first rough cut. I met once again with Senga, Elaine and Robert, along with Managing Director John McGee. They were very impressed with what had been produced so far, though naturally had some minor criticisms and alterations they would like to see. I liaised with John and Robert on what adjustments could be made, the communication between myself and the client is very important to me as bringing their ideas to reality is vital.

I returned on location to film a few extra clips to be featured and tied these in to the subsequent edit. The client requested specific flowing shots and smooth transitions to ensure a sleek and dynamic end product.

I then liaised with Stuart Wilson from the Crichton Development Company who helped with final alterations, suggesting tweaks to achieve the dynamic look requested and also assist with the typography due to his graphic design background.

Final Cut

It was then time to present the finished article to Robert who was extremely pleased with the latest version. The small tweaks requested were more than enough to aid in the dynamic, sleek look.

I produced a high quality Full High Definition version of the film along with a more compressed, web friendly version, ideal for allowing the client to upload to any platform they wish and embed on the website.

The final version is now to be used as promotional material for both online and played on the reception TV inside Easterbrook Hall. Having the film displayed in the reception area is an excellent method of presenting what the venue has to offer for clients which can encourage repeat bookings.

A Rewarding Experience

Working on this project for the Crichton Development Company & Easterbrook Hall has been a busy yet highly rewarding experience. I am extremely proud to deliver such a product to a high profile client and for them to be extremely pleased with the end result. Corporate video production is more important than ever in today’s highly competitive market and having a stunning video on your website gives your business the edge in effective display of your products or services.
